  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; requiring the commissioner of 
  1.3             children, families, and learning to take the state's 
  1.4             11th grade mathematics test.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [COMMISSIONER OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND 
  1.7   LEARNING MUST TAKE STATE'S 11TH GRADE MATHEMATICS TEST.] 
  1.8      By April 17, 2002, the commissioner of children, families, 
  1.9   and learning must take and complete the Minnesota comprehensive 
  1.10  assessment in mathematics for 11th grade students.  The 
  1.11  commissioner must take and complete the assessment under the 
  1.12  same conditions applicable to the 11th grade public school 
  1.13  students taking the assessment on April 17, 2002, and must be 
  1.14  scored under the same circumstances and in the same manner as 
  1.15  those students.  The commissioner must post on the department of 
  1.16  children, families, and learning Web site the results that the 
  1.17  commissioner attains on the assessment at the same time the 
  1.18  students' aggregate results are posted. 
  1.19     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.20  following final enactment.
