  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to local government; authorizing the city of 
  1.3             Edina to regulate the operation of recreational motor 
  1.4             vehicles. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [EDINA; REGULATION OF RECREATIONAL MOTOR 
  1.7   VEHICLES.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [DEFINITION.] As used in this section, the 
  1.9   term "recreational motor vehicle" means an off-highway 
  1.10  motorcycle as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 84.787, 
  1.11  subdivision 7, and off-road vehicle as defined in Minnesota 
  1.12  Statutes, section 84.797, subdivision 7, or an all-terrain 
  1.13  vehicle as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 84.92, 
  1.14  subdivision 8. 
  1.15     Subd. 2.  [CITY AUTHORITY TO REGULATE.] The city of Edina 
  1.16  may impose restrictions on the operation of recreational motor 
  1.17  vehicles on property owned by the operator if the property is 
  1.18  three or fewer acres in area. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.20     Section 1 is effective the day following its final 
  1.21  enactment without local approval.
