A bill for an act
relating to workforce development; appropriating money for a survivor employment
readiness pilot project in the greater St. Cloud area.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; SURVIVOR EMPLOYMENT READINESS PILOT
PROJECT.

new text begin $500,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to Avivo to provide resources and
support services to survivors of sex trafficking and domestic abuse in the greater St. Cloud
area as they search for employment. Program resources include but are not limited to costs
for day care, transportation, housing, legal advice, procuring documents required for
employment, interview clothing, technology, and Internet access. The program shall also
include public outreach and corporate training component to communicate to the public
and potential employers about the specific struggles faced by survivors as they reenter the
workforce. This is a onetime appropriation.
