A bill for an act
relating to education; district grading policies; statewide assessments; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 123B.06.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 123B.06, is amended to read:

pupil growth and for curriculum evaluation, as well as a system for grading and making
reports to parents. Each district deleted text begin shalldeleted text end new text begin mustnew text end develop an appropriate program of pupil progress
and promotion for its elementary, middle, and secondary schools. Each district deleted text begin shalldeleted text end new text begin mustnew text end
keep accurate and complete individual, permanent, cumulative personal records for all
pupils.

(b) Each school district must post its grading policy on its website or provide parents a
copy of the grading policy at the beginning of each school year.

(c) Each school district must post on its website the percentage of students receiving
each grade in a course, reported by subject area. For each grade level and subject area in
which a school district administers a statewide assessment under section 120B.30, each
school district must post on its website the percentage of students at each achievement level,
as determined by the statewide assessment proficiency standards.

This section is effective for the 2020-2021 school year and later.
