A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money for grants to housing with services
establishments for assistive technology.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; GRANTS TO HOUSING WITH SERVICES
ESTABLISHMENTS FOR ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY.

new text begin $2,500,000 in fiscal year 2021 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of health for grants to housing with services establishments providing assisted living as
defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 144G.01, subdivision 2. The grants must be used to
employ assistive technology to help residents remain in the community as an alternative to
placement in a nursing home. An assisted living facility must apply for a grant on the forms
provided by the commissioner and according to the timelines established by the
commissioner. This is a onetime appropriation.
