  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the legislature; confining regular 
  1.3             legislative sessions to odd-numbered years; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 3.011. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 3.011, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      3.011 [SESSIONS.] 
  1.9      The legislature shall meet at the seat of government on the 
  1.10  first Tuesday after the first Monday in January of each 
  1.11  odd-numbered year.  When the first Monday in January falls on 
  1.12  January 1, it shall meet on the first Wednesday after the first 
  1.13  Monday.  It shall also meet when called by the governor to meet 
  1.14  in special session.  The legislature shall not meet in regular 
  1.15  session in any even-numbered year.
