A bill for an act
relating to transportation; directing inclusion of a project on U.S. Highway 169 in
Department of Transportation's ten-year capital highway investment plan;
appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin (a) In the next update to the Department of Transportation's ten-year capital highway
investment plan, the commissioner of transportation must incorporate as a ten-year priority
improvement of marked U.S. Highway 169 from a two-lane undivided highway to a four-lane
divided highway for the remaining eight-mile segment of Cross Range Expressway from
Taconite to Pengilly.

new text begin (b) $15,000,000 in fiscal year 2020 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of transportation to be used for environmental permitting, preliminary
engineering, final design, and land acquisition needed to construct the U.S. Highway 169
completion project described in paragraph (a). The commissioner must conduct these
activities so that the project is ready to proceed with construction as soon as construction
financing becomes available.
