  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money for 
  1.3             environmental and natural resources purposes. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5   Section 1.  [APPROPRIATIONS.] 
  1.6      The sums shown in the columns marked "APPROPRIATIONS" are 
  1.7   appropriated from the general fund, or any other fund named, to 
  1.8   the agencies and for the purposes specified in this act, to be 
  1.9   available for the fiscal years indicated for each purpose.  The 
  1.10  figures "2000" and "2001" mean that the appropriation or 
  1.11  appropriations listed under them are available for the fiscal 
  1.12  year ending June 30, 2000, or June 30, 2001, respectively, and 
  1.13  if an earlier appropriation was made for that purpose for that 
  1.14  year, the appropriation in this act is added to it.

  2.7   Sec. 4.  NATURAL RESOURCES - 
  2.8   MILLE LACS TREATY LITIGATION           3,954,463        -0-
  2.9   Subdivision 1.  $3,954,463 in fiscal 
  2.10  year 2000 is for the settlement of 
  2.11  legal costs incurred by the Mille Lacs 
  2.12  Band, St. Croix Band, Bad River Band, 
  2.13  Red Cliff Band, Lac du Flambeau Band, 
  2.14  Sokaogon Chippewa Community, and the 
  2.15  Lac Courte Oreilles Band related to the 
  2.16  1837 Treaty litigation. 
  2.17  Subd. 2.  The interest payment on the 
  2.18  settlement of legal costs contained in 
  2.19  subdivision 1 is appropriated to the 
  2.20  commissioner of natural resources for 
  2.21  fiscal year 2000.  The amount of the 
  2.22  interest payment shall be determined by 
  2.23  applying an interest amount of $614.30 
  2.24  for each day beginning December 10, 
  2.25  1999, through the day of final 
  2.26  enactment of this bill. 
  2.27     Sec. 5.  [APPROPRIATIONS; OPERATIONS SUPPORT.] 
  2.28     (a) $1,565,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the 
  2.29  general fund to the commissioner of natural resources for 
  2.30  operations support.  The amount supplants funding from the game 
  2.31  and fish fund under paragraph (b) for the commissioner's office, 
  2.32  human resources, and office of management and budget service 
  2.33  operations support. 
  2.34     (b) $5,665,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the 
  2.35  game and fish fund to the commissioner of natural resources for 
  2.36  fish and wildlife management.  The appropriation includes 
  2.37  $1,565,000 reduced from the operations support budget.  The 
  2.38  money is available due to the general fund appropriation under 
  2.39  paragraph (a) which reduces the obligation of the game and fish 
  2.40  fund to operations support.
