A bill for an act
relating to education; providing for a teacher licensing alternative.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin LICENSING ALTERNATIVE.

new text begin A person who graduated from a Board of Teaching approved postsecondary teacher
preparation program at an accredited college in the state of Minnesota with a bachelor's
degree in education before or during 2004, has passed two of the three praxis exams,
but has failed the third exam by not more than one point on at least three occasions,
and has letters of support from the Director of Undergraduate Programs in Education
from the accredited college, from the student teacher who was responsible for overseeing
the person, and from the principal of the school where the person has substitute taught
numerous times, shall be granted a license to teach by the Board of Teaching.
