A bill for an act
relating to public health; establishing a volunteer fragrance-free schools
education campaign.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin FRAGRANCE-FREE SCHOOLS EDUCATION CAMPAIGN.

new text begin The commissioner of health, in collaboration with the commissioner of education
and the working group created in Laws 2007, chapter 147, article 17, section 4, shall
develop language for a fragrance-free schools education campaign, and shall select school
districts, from among volunteers, to participate in a fragrance-free schools education
campaign. The education campaign must include providing fragrance-free information in
a variety of formats, including, but not limited to, letters to parents, fact sheets, posted
signs, electronic mail, and Web sites.

new text begin The commissioners of health and education, in consultation with the fragrance-free
working group, shall select at least one school district from each of the following areas,
in addition to the Minneapolis Public Schools, to implement the fragrance-free schools
education campaign: urban, suburban, and rural areas. The districts must be chosen
from among districts that volunteer to implement the fragrance-free schools education
campaign.
