A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money for grants to reduce
economic disparities in low-income Asian communities.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for competitive grants to build
capacity for small organizations working to reduce economic disparities and enhance
workforce development in low-income Asian communities. Eligible small organizations
are those which serve populations that are Southeast Asian or South Asian, have a mission
of serving low-income communities, and have an annual operating budget below $120,000.
