$500,000 in fiscal year 2021 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of the Pollution Control Agency to lead an effort, in consultation with other agencies, to
reduce perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in wastewater by 50 percent
in 2025 and 90 percent in 2030. Consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 15.014, the
commissioner may create an advisory group to advise the commissioner on how to achieve
the goals established in this section. The advisory group must include scientists with expertise
in PFAS and engineers with expertise in wastewater. This is a onetime appropriation.
