1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education; increasing the general 1.3 education formula allowance; appropriating money; 1.4 amending Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 1.5 126C.10, subdivision 2; repealing Laws 1999, chapter 1.6 241, article 1, section 64. 1.7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.8 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 1.9 126C.10, subdivision 2, is amended to read: 1.10 Subd. 2. [BASIC REVENUE.] The basic revenue for each 1.11 district equals the formula allowance times theresident1.12 adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the school year.The1.13formula allowance for fiscal year 1998 is $3,581. The formula1.14allowance for fiscal year 1999 is $3,530.The formula allowance 1.15 for fiscal year 2000 is $3,740. The formula allowance for 1.16 fiscal year 2001 and subsequent fiscal years is$3,875$4,925. 1.17 Sec. 2. [APPROPRIATION.] 1.18 $87,000,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the 1.19 general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 1.20 learning for payment of general education aid under section 1 to 1.21 allow school districts to lower class sizes and offer full-day 1.22 kindergarten. This appropriation is in addition to any other 1.23 appropriation for this purpose. 1.24 Sec. 3. [REPEALER.] 1.25 Laws 1999, chapter 241, article 1, section 64, is repealed. 1.26 Sec. 4. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 2.1 Section 3 is effective the day following final enactment.
