A bill for an act
 relating to education finance; waiving the contract deadline aid payment for
certain school districts.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin CONTRACT DEADLINE AID PENALTY WAIVED.

new text begin For fiscal year 2010 only, a school district subject to the aid penalty under Minnesota
Statutes, section 123B.05, is exempt from the aid penalty if:

new text begin (1) the district and the exclusive representative of the teachers reached at least two
tentative agreements between August 15, 2009, and January 15, 2010; and
 new text end

new text begin (2) the district's contract was subsequently agreed to and signed prior to April 15,
2010.

and applies to fiscal year 2010 only.
