relating to telecommunications; prohibiting certain fees for equipment; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 238.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin After January 1, 2010, a cable communications system must provide to a subscriber,
at no cost to the subscriber, equipment necessary to continue to receive and view the
channels included under a subscriber's existing contract with the cable communications
system with no diminution in quality. A cable communications system may charge a
subscriber only for equipment that allows for additional features that are not part of
a subscriber's existing contract.
