  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to professions; increasing licensing fees of 
  1.3             the board of architecture engineering, land surveying, 
  1.4             landscape architecture, geoscience, and interior 
  1.5             design; enhancing enforcement activities; amending 
  1.6             Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 326.105. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 
  1.9   326.105, is amended to read: 
  1.10     326.105 [FEES.] 
  1.11     The fee for licensure or renewal of licensure as an 
  1.12  architect, professional engineer, land surveyor, landscape 
  1.13  architect, or geoscience professional is $104 $120 per biennium. 
  1.14  The fee for certification as a certified interior designer or 
  1.15  for renewal of the certificate is $104 $120 per biennium.  The 
  1.16  fee for an architect applying for original certification as a 
  1.17  certified interior designer is $50 per biennium.  The initial 
  1.18  license or certification fee for all professions is $104 $120.  
  1.19  The renewal fee shall be paid biennially on or before June 30 of 
  1.20  each even-numbered year.  The renewal fee, when paid by mail, is 
  1.21  not timely paid unless it is postmarked on or before June 30 of 
  1.22  each even-numbered year.  The application fee is $25 for 
  1.23  in-training applicants and $75 for professional license 
  1.24  applicants.  The proceeds from the increased fees shall be used 
  1.25  to enhance the enforcement activities of the board.  
  1.26     The fee for monitoring licensing examinations for 
  2.1   applicants is $25, payable by the applicant.
