  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to commerce; prohibiting the sale of certain 
  1.3             check-printing software; proposing coding for new law 
  1.4             in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325E. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [325E.60] [SALE OF CHECK-PRINTING SOFTWARE.] 
  1.7      Subdivision 1.  [RESTRICTION.] A person may not offer for 
  1.8   sale or sell computer software that includes the ability to 
  1.9   print with MICR-encoded ink. 
  1.10     Subd. 2.  [PENALTIES AND REMEDIES.] A person who violates 
  1.11  this section is subject to the penalties and remedies, including 
  1.12  a private right of action, as provided in section 8.31.
