  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; restoring levy authority for 
  1.3             independent school district No. 2859, Glencoe-Silver 
  1.4             Lake. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [LEVY RESTORATION; INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 
  1.7   NO. 2859, GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE.] 
  1.8      (a) Independent school district No. 2859, Glencoe-Silver 
  1.9   Lake, may levy up to one-third of the total of the sum from 
  1.10  paragraph (b) in each of the fiscal years 2002, 2003, and 2004. 
  1.11     (b) For each of the fiscal years of 1999, 2000, and 2001, 
  1.12  the amount of the levy is equal to the sum of: 
  1.13     (1) the difference between the maximum amount of levy 
  1.14  authorized by law for the fiscal year and the amount of levy 
  1.15  certified by independent school district No. 2859, 
  1.16  Glencoe-Silver Lake, under Minnesota Statutes 1996 and 1997 
  1.17  Supplement, section 124.2725; 
  1.18     (2) the difference between the maximum amount of levy 
  1.19  authorized by law for the fiscal year and the amount of levy 
  1.20  certified by independent school district No. 2859, 
  1.21  Glencoe-Silver Lake, under Minnesota Statutes, section 126C.42; 
  1.22  and 
  1.23     (3) the difference between the maximum amount of levy 
  1.24  authorized by law for the fiscal year and the amount of levy 
  1.25  certified by independent school district No. 2859, 
  2.1   Glencoe-Silver Lake, under Minnesota Statutes, section 126C.22. 
  2.2      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.3      Section 1 is effective for taxes payable in 2001.
