A bill for an act
 relating to appropriations; requiring reports of transfers out of the Support Our
Troops account; requiring return of Support Our Troops money to Support Our
Troops account; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 190.19, subdivision
3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 190.19, subdivision 3, is amended to read:

new text begin (a) new text end The adjutant general must report by February
1, 2007, and each year thereafter, to the chairs and ranking minority members of the
legislative committees and divisions with jurisdiction over military and veterans' affairs on
the number, amounts, and use of grants made by the adjutant general from the Minnesota
"Support Our Troops" account in the previous year.

new text begin (b) Money may not be transferred out of the Support Our Troops account for any
purpose not related to the account. At least 15 days before any transfer is made out of the
account, the commissioner of management and budget must report the proposed transfer
to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees and divisions
with jurisdiction over military and veterans' affairs.

Sec. 2. new text begin SUPPORT OUR TROOPS; RETURN OF MONEY TRANSFERRED
TO GOVERNOR.

new text begin $30,000 transferred on July 6, 2009, from the Support Our Troops account in
the special revenue fund in the Department of Veterans Affairs to the general fund
appropriation to pay salaries of personnel in the Office of the Governor must be returned
by the commissioner of management and budget to the Support Our Troops account in the
Department of Veterans Affairs within 15 days after the effective date of this section.
