  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the environment; requiring a report to the 
  1.3             legislature on pesticide management. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [PESTICIDE REPORTING.] 
  1.6      The commissioner of agriculture, in cooperation with the 
  1.7   University of Minnesota extension service; the commissioners of 
  1.8   administration; children, families, and learning; health; and 
  1.9   the pollution control agency; and other interested parties, must 
  1.10  review the use of pesticide and integrated pest management 
  1.11  techniques and practices as they can be applied to the use and 
  1.12  storage of pesticides in and around buildings owned by the state 
  1.13  and buildings and grounds used for K-12 public education.  
  1.14  Recommendations by the commissioner of agriculture on the use of 
  1.15  pesticides and comprehensive integrated pest management 
  1.16  practices in state buildings and K-12 public school buildings, 
  1.17  including the training of building managers and school 
  1.18  personnel, must be presented to the environmental policy and 
  1.19  finance committees of the legislature by December 15, 2000. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
