A bill for an act
relating to education finance; authorizing a payment to tribal contract or grant
schools equivalent to the annual payment to school districts and charter schools
from the permanent school fund endowment; appropriating money; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 124D.83, by adding a subdivision; Laws 2019,
First Special Session chapter 11, article 2, section 33, subdivision 5.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 124D.83, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin A tribal contract or grant school
eligible for aid under this section qualifies for permanent school fund replacement aid. The
aid for each tribal contract or grant school equals the school's pupils in average daily
membership for that year times the per pupil allowance paid to school districts and charter
schools under section 127A.33 for that year.

new text begin This section is effective for revenue for fiscal year 2021 and later.

Sec. 2.

Laws 2019, First Special Session chapter 11, article 2, section 33, subdivision 5,
is amended to read:

Subd. 5.

Tribal contract school aid.

For tribal contract school aid under Minnesota
Statutes, section 124D.83:

The 2020 appropriation includes $299,000 for 2019 and $2,976,000 for 2020.
