A bill for an act
 relating to education finance; increasing funding for community education
programming; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section
124D.20, subdivisions 3, 5; Laws 2021, First Special Session chapter 13, article
10, section 1, subdivision 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 124D.20, subdivision 3, is amended to read:


Subd. 3.

General community education revenue.

The general community education
revenue for a district equals deleted text begin $5.23 for fiscal years 2005 and 2006 anddeleted text end $5.42 for fiscal year
2007 new text begin through fiscal year 2022 and $7.00 for fiscal year 2023 new text end and later, times the greater of
1,335 or the population of the district. The population of the district is determined according
to section 275.14.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 124D.20, subdivision 5, is amended to read:


Subd. 5.

Total community education levy.

To obtain total community education revenue,
a district may levy the amount raised by a maximum tax rate of deleted text begin 0.94deleted text end new text begin 0.498new text end percent times
the adjusted net tax capacity of the district. If the amount of the total community education
levy would exceed the total community education revenue, the total community education
levy shall be determined according to subdivision 6.

Sec. 3.

Laws 2021, First Special Session chapter 13, article 10, section 1, subdivision 2,
is amended to read:
