  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; modifying bear season 
  1.3             provisions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.4             97B.411. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 97B.411, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      97B.411 [BEAR SEASON AND RESTRICTIONS.] 
  1.9      The commissioner may, by rule, prescribe the open season 
  1.10  and the areas and restrictions for the taking of bear.  The open 
  1.11  season for taking bear must not commence earlier than the day 
  1.12  following Labor Day.  
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [CONFORMING RULES.] 
  1.14     The commissioner of natural resources shall amend rules to 
  1.15  conform with section 1 according to Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.16  14.388. 
  1.17     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.19  enactment.
