BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes,
section 120B.021, the commissioner of education must suspend any ongoing review or
revision of academic standards, or implementation of revised academic standards under
Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.021 until June 1, 2021.

new text begin The commissioner of education must review current academic standards
under Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.021 and, with stakeholder input, assess the standards
for relevance and rigor. By January 1, 2021, the commissioner must submit a report to the
chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees having jurisdiction over
education policy summarizing the commissioner's findings and making a recommendation
on whether to modify the ten-year cycle for reviewing and revising standards.
