  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education finance; authorizing certain 
  1.3             school districts to levy additional funds for 
  1.4             integration revenue; amending Minnesota Statutes 2001 
  1.5             Supplement, section 124D.86, subdivision 3. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2001 Supplement, section 
  1.8   124D.86, subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3.  [INTEGRATION REVENUE.] Integration revenue equals 
  1.10  the following amounts: 
  1.11     (1) for independent school district No. 709, Duluth, $207 
  1.12  times the adjusted pupil units for the school year; 
  1.13     (2) for independent school district No. 625, St. Paul, and 
  1.14  for special school district No. 1, Minneapolis, $446 times the 
  1.15  adjusted pupil units for the school year; 
  1.16     (3) for a district not listed in clause (1) or (2) that 
  1.17  must implement a plan under Minnesota Rules, parts 3535.0100 to 
  1.18  3535.0180, where the district's enrollment of protected 
  1.19  students, as defined under Minnesota Rules, part 3535.0110, 
  1.20  exceeds 15 percent, the lesser of (i) the actual cost of 
  1.21  implementing the plan during the fiscal year minus the aid 
  1.22  received under subdivision 6, or (ii) $130 times the adjusted 
  1.23  pupil units for the school year, and (iii) up to an additional 
  1.24  $75 times the adjusted pupil units for the school year that is 
  1.25  provided entirely through a local levy; 
  2.1      (4) for a district not listed in clause (1), (2), or (3) 
  2.2   that is required to implement a plan according to the 
  2.3   requirements of Minnesota Rules, parts 3535.0100 to 3535.0180, 
  2.4   the lesser of 
  2.5      (i) the actual cost of implementing the plan during the 
  2.6   fiscal year minus the aid received under subdivision 6, or 
  2.7      (ii) $93 times the adjusted pupil units for the school year.
  2.8      Any money received by districts in clauses (1) to (3) which 
  2.9   exceeds the amount received in fiscal year 2000 shall be subject 
  2.10  to the budget requirements in subdivision 1a; and 
  2.11     (5) for a member district of a multidistrict integration 
  2.12  collaborative that files a plan with the commissioner, but is 
  2.13  not contiguous to a racially isolated district, integration 
  2.14  revenue equals the amount defined in clause (4). 
  2.15     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective for revenue for 
  2.16  fiscal year 2003 and later.
