A bill for an act
relating to human services; certifying foster children's eligibility for medical
assistance until age 21; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 256B.055,
by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 256B.055, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Foster children to age 21. new text end

new text begin Foster children for whom the Department
of Human Services or counties have custody and financial responsibility on their 18th
birthday must be enrolled in medical assistance without application and must be certified
eligible for medical assistance by the Department of Human Services until their 21st
birthday. Once certified eligible, reapplication is not required.
