  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to higher education; establishing a 
  1.3             moratorium on campus closure by the board of trustees 
  1.4             of the Minnesota state colleges and universities. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [MORATORIUM; CAMPUS CLOSING.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 136F.18, the 
  1.8   board of trustees of the Minnesota state colleges and 
  1.9   universities shall not close a campus or center under its 
  1.10  jurisdiction or take any action in furtherance of a decision to 
  1.11  close a campus or center. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [EXPIRATION.] 
  1.13     Section 1 expires June 30, 2003. 
  1.14     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.15     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
