  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; modifying provisions for 
  1.3             wildlife shooting preserves; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 2000, section 97A.115, subdivision 1; 
  1.5             repealing Minnesota Rules, part 6242.0300. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 97A.115, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [LICENSES; RULES.] A person may not operate 
  1.10  a shooting preserve without a license.  The commissioner may 
  1.11  issue licenses to operate commercial shooting preserves and 
  1.12  private shooting preserves if the commissioner determines that 
  1.13  it is in the public interest and that there will not be an 
  1.14  adverse effect on wild game bird populations.  Private shooting 
  1.15  preserves may only be located outside of the pheasant range as 
  1.16  determined by the commissioner anywhere in the state.  The 
  1.17  commissioner may adopt rules to implement this section and 
  1.18  section 97A.121.  
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.20     Minnesota Rules, part 6242.0300, is repealed. 
  1.21     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.23  enactment.
