A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money for the East Side
Neighborhood Services.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; EAST SIDE NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES.

new text begin (a) $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to East Side
Neighborhood Services. This is a onetime appropriation.

new text begin (b) Of the amount appropriated:

new text begin (1) $500,000 is for the senior community service employment program, which provides
work readiness training to low-income adults 55 and older, to provide ongoing support and
mentoring needs to the program participants as well as the transition period from subsidized
wages to unsubsidized wages; and

new text begin (2) $500,000 is for the nursing assistant plus program to serve the increased need for
growth of medical talent pipelines through expansion of the existing program and
development of in-house training.
