1.2relating to employment; occupational health and safety; requiring that records be
1.3kept of the ethnicity of certain injured, sick, or deceased employees; amending
1.4Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 182.663, subdivision 1.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 182.663, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.7    Subdivision 1. Statistics program. In order to further the purposes of this
1.8chapter, the commissioner shall develop and maintain an effective program of collection,
1.9compilation, and analysis of occupational safety and health statistics. Such programs may
1.10cover all employments within the scope of this chapter. The commissioner shall compile
1.11accurate statistics, including the race and ethnicity of the worker, on work deaths, injuries
1.12and illnesses which shall include all deaths and all disabling, serious, or significant injuries
1.13and illnesses, whether or not involving loss of time from work, other than minor injuries
1.14requiring only first aid treatment and which do not involve medical treatment, loss of
1.15consciousness, restrictions of work or motion, or transfer to another job. Such programs
1.16shall be developed so that the state may coordinate and cooperate with a federal data
1.17collection and record-keeping program.
