  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; prohibiting an expelled student 
  1.3             from participating in the enrollment options program 
  1.4             during the term of the expulsion; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1998, section 124D.03, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 124D.03, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [ESTABLISHMENT.] (a) An enrollment options 
  1.10  program is established to enable any pupil to attend a school or 
  1.11  program in a district in which the pupil does not reside, 
  1.12  subject to the limitations in this section.  
  1.13     (b) A pupil who is expelled under section 121A.45 is 
  1.14  ineligible to participate in this program for the term of the 
  1.15  expulsion. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective for the 2000-2001 school year and 
  1.18  later.
