  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; declaring that the state 
  1.3             does not recognize certain tribal boundaries; 
  1.4             requiring the attorney general to reimburse Mille Lacs 
  1.5             County for legal expenses. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [RECOGNITION OF BOUNDARIES.] 
  1.8      The state of Minnesota does not recognize the boundaries 
  1.9   established in 1855 for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe 
  1.10  Reservation.  Therefore, to protect the property rights of the 
  1.11  citizens of Mille Lacs County, the attorney general must pay 
  1.12  $250,000 each year in fiscal years 2005 through 2008 from the 
  1.13  attorney general's operating budget to Mille Lacs County for 
  1.14  legal expenses incurred in the county's lawsuit against the 
  1.15  Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
