relating to education; prohibiting admission fees at public school events; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 123B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin An admission fee must not be charged for any event in a kindergarten through grade 12
public school that is being held at a facility that is funded, constructed, or maintained using
at least 75 percent public funding. Events may include but are not limited to school athletic
events, school concerts, school spirit assemblies, other extracurricular activities or
competitions with student or public spectators, or any other kindergarten through grade 12
event in which students are participating. Nothing in this section prohibits voluntary
donations.
