A bill for an act
relating to education; establishing an environmental education advancement
program; appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 124D.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

An environmental education advancement program is established to promote
greater accessibility to environmental education programs for kindergarten through
grade 12 students. The commissioner of education shall reimburse school districts and
charter schools 50 percent of the costs of environmental education programs provided
by residential environmental learning centers within Minnesota. School districts and
charter schools may apply for reimbursement in the form and manner determined by the
commissioner. The commissioner shall make all reimbursements at the close of each
fiscal year adjusting the reimbursements pro rata if the appropriations to this program do
not allow for 50 percent reimbursement.

$....... is appropriated in fiscal year 2015 to the commissioner of education from
the environmental fund under Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.531, for the purposes of
providing reimbursements under Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.99.
