  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; permitting the Minnesota state 
  1.3             high school league to enter into corporate 
  1.4             partnerships and similar agreements; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 128C.01, subdivision 
  1.6             5.  
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 128C.01, 
  1.9   subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 5.  [CERTAIN COMMERCIAL RELATIONSHIPS 
  1.11  PROHIBITED PERMITTED.] The board may not enter into corporate 
  1.12  partnerships or similar agreements with any a business or 
  1.13  commercial organization that sells products or services used by 
  1.14  student or adult participants in league activities while they 
  1.15  participate in activities regulated by the league, consistent 
  1.16  with board policy.  The board may sell advertising to any such 
  1.17  business or organization if the advertising is clearly 
  1.18  identified as advertising paid for by the business or commercial 
  1.19  organization. 
  1.20     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.21  following final enactment and applies to partnerships and 
  1.22  agreements entered into after that date.
