  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; authorizing school 
  1.3             bus stops in cul-de-sacs; proposing coding for new law 
  1.4             in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 169. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [169.438] [SCHOOL BUS STOP IN CUL-DE-SAC.] 
  1.7      After 60 days' written notice to the road authority having 
  1.8   jurisdiction, a school district may designate a cul-de-sac 
  1.9   within the district as a school bus stop for a type A, B, C, or 
  1.10  D school bus or Head Start bus according to this section. 
  1.11     A cul-de-sac designated as a school bus stop or Head Start 
  1.12  bus stop must be so designed and constructed as to enable the 
  1.13  bus to enter, turn, and exit the cul-de-sac without the driver 
  1.14  being required to operate the bus in reverse. 
  1.15     The road authority shall post appropriate signs prohibiting 
  1.16  vehicles from parking in the cul-de-sac, if necessary, to enable 
  1.17  the driver of the school bus or Head Start bus to enter, turn, 
  1.18  and exit the cul-de-sac without being required to operate the 
  1.19  bus in reverse.  If parking is prohibited, the road authority 
  1.20  shall prohibit parking only during periods necessary to load and 
  1.21  unload school children, unless parking is prohibited for other 
  1.22  reasons.
