A bill for an act
relating to human services; directing the ombudsman for long-term care to
expand the volunteer ombudsman program; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin EXPANSION OF VOLUNTEER OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM FOR
LONG-TERM CARE; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) The Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care shall expand its volunteer
ombudsman program to meet the increasing needs of clients receiving long-term care
services in home and community settings. The expanded program must employ a full-time
volunteer coordinator and include a recruitment and training process that focuses on
client dispute resolution.

new text begin (b) $200,000 in fiscal year 2011 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of human services for the purpose of paragraph (a). This appropriation shall
become part of the base appropriation for this activity.
