A bill for an act
relating to noxious weeds; requiring the designation of buckthorn as a primary
noxious weed.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin Notwithstanding any provision for the classification of noxious weeds in Minnesota
Statutes 2006, sections 18.75 to 18.88, or any associated rules, by July 1, 2008, the
commissioner of agriculture must designate buckthorn a primary noxious weed, thereby
authorizing municipalities to adopt ordinances to eradicate buckthorn.
