  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to families; appropriating money for 
  1.3             emergency assistance and transitional housing. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $11,400,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal 
  1.7   year 2003 to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.8   learning to be available until June 30, 2003.  Of this 
  1.9   appropriation: 
  1.10     (1) $8,500,000 is for transitional housing programs under 
  1.11  Minnesota Statutes, section 119A.43; and 
  1.12     (2) $2,900,000 is for emergency services grants under Laws 
  1.13  1997, chapter 162, article 3, section 7. 
  1.14     This appropriation is in addition to any base 
  1.15  appropriations and TANF funding.  This is a onetime 
  1.16  appropriation and is not to be added to the agency's budget base.
