  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [SEVERANCE LEVY; MESABI EAST.] 
  1.6      Independent school district No. 2711, Mesabi East, may levy 
  1.7   an amount up to $250,000 each year for a period of five years 
  1.8   for severance and early retirement incentives for licensed 
  1.9   employees who have retired early as a result of the district's 
  1.10  combination that was effective July 1, 1991. 
  1.11     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.12     Section 1 is effective for taxes payable in 2001 and later 
  1.13  years.
