A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for an Ethiopian Community
Center in the city of St. Paul.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ETHIOPIAN COMMUNITY CENTER; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $2,240,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to The Ethiopian Community in
Minnesota, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to acquire property, and to predesign, design,
construct, renovate, furnish, and equip an Ethiopian Community Center in the city of St.
Paul to create a gathering place for Ethiopian youth and families to gather and connect with
their Ethiopian history and culture. This is a onetime appropriation and is available until
the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
