  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; designating the Purple Heart 
  1.3             Trail; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.4             161.14, by adding a subdivision.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 161.14, is 
  1.7   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 51.  [PURPLE HEART TRAIL.] Trunk Highways Nos. 390, 
  1.9   391, and 392, described in section 161.12 and marked on the 
  1.10  effective date of this section as interstate highways 35, 90, 
  1.11  and 94, respectively, are designated in their entirety within 
  1.12  Minnesota as the Purple Heart Trail.  The commissioner shall 
  1.13  adopt a suitable marking design to mark these highways and erect 
  1.14  appropriate signs at each safety rest area located on those 
  1.15  highways.  The signs required under this subdivision are not 
  1.16  subject to section 161.139.
