A bill for an act
relating to public safety; making it a crime to make certain false representations
about training service animals; imposing criminal penalties; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 609.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin As used in this section, "service animal" has the meaning
given in section 343.20, subdivision 7.

new text begin A person who intentionally makes a false representation
with the intent to defraud another into believing that the person is a trainer of service animals
or has the requisite skills and background to train a service animal is guilty of a misdemeanor
if the person defrauded suffers an economic or other loss.
