  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to townships; providing for treatment of 
  1.3             personnel data; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, 
  1.4             section 367.05, subdivision 1. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 367.05, 
  1.7   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  The town board shall set the compensation 
  1.9   of supervisors, town assessors, the treasurer, clerk, deputy 
  1.10  clerk, if one is employed, deputy treasurer, if one is employed, 
  1.11  and other employees of the town.  In addition, supervisors, 
  1.12  assessors, treasurers, clerks, deputy clerks, deputy treasurers, 
  1.13  and other employees of the town shall be entitled to mileage for 
  1.14  the use of their own automobile at a rate to be determined by 
  1.15  the town board for necessary travel on official town business.  
  1.16  The town board may fix the hours of employment for town 
  1.17  employees, and reimburse a town assessor for 
  1.18  expenses.  Personnel data, as defined in section 13.43, must be 
  1.19  treated in accordance with that section.
