  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the building code; exempting border cities 
  1.3             from Minnesota Rules, chapters 7672 and 7674; 
  1.4             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.5             chapter 16B. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [16B.731] [STATE ENERGY CODE IN BORDER CITIES.] 
  1.8      The governing body of a border city, as specified in 
  1.9   section 469.168, subdivision 4, paragraph (c), located on the 
  1.10  western border of the state, may provide by ordinance that 
  1.11  Minnesota Rules, chapters 7672 and 7674, specifying the energy 
  1.12  code requirements for residential buildings of the State 
  1.13  Building Code, do not apply within the jurisdiction of the city. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.15     Section 1 is effective April 15, 2000.
