A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; appropriating money to study the presence of
neonicotinoid pesticides in wild deer.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin In light of the 2019 South Dakota study finding that neonicotinoid insecticides affect
the physiology and reproductive characteristics of white-tailed deer, $400,000 in fiscal year
2020 is appropriated from the game and fish fund to the Board of Regents of the University
of Minnesota for a study to determine whether and to what extent neonicotinoid pesticides
are present in the tissue of wild white-tailed deer in Minnesota. No later than February 15,
2020, the board of regents must report findings to the legislative committees and divisions
with jurisdiction over natural resources, agriculture, and health.
