A bill for an act
relating to education; directing the education commissioner to require the state's
testing contractor to provide test results to school districts by the first week
in May; amending Minnesota Statutes 2007 Supplement, section 120B.30,
subdivision 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2007 Supplement, section 120B.30, subdivision 2, is
amended to read:

Subd. 2.

Department of Education assistance.

The Department of Education
shall contract for professional and technical services according to competitive bidding
procedures under chapter 16C for purposes of this section. new text begin When contracting for
professional and technical services, the commissioner must include in the contract a
schedule for administering statewide assessments that requires the contractor to provide
for the latest possible date for administering the assessments and a date no later than the
Friday of the first full week in May for giving school districts the assessment results.

and applies to any professional or technical services contract under Minnesota Statutes,
section 120B.30, that the education commissioner enters into or modifies after the
effective date of this section.
