  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the legislature; requiring the legislature 
  1.3             to adopt certain rules of procedure; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 3. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [3.3060] [JOINT STANDING COMMITTEES.] 
  1.7      The house of representatives and the senate shall adopt 
  1.8   rules establishing a system of joint standing committees to 
  1.9   consider and report recommendations on bills introduced in 
  1.10  either house of the legislature.  The house of representatives 
  1.11  and the senate shall adopt the rules during the legislative 
  1.12  session in 2001 and implement them beginning in the legislative 
  1.13  session in 2002.  
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [3.3061] [CONFERENCE COMMITTEES.] 
  1.15     The house of representatives and the senate shall adopt 
  1.16  rules of procedure that do not require the house in which a bill 
  1.17  originates to ask for the appointment of a conference committee 
  1.18  on the bill when it refuses to concur in an amendment to the 
  1.19  bill by the other house.  The rules shall permit either house to 
  1.20  reconsider and further amend a bill, or the other house's 
  1.21  amendment, until one of the houses chooses instead to ask for 
  1.22  the appointment of a conference committee on the bill.  The 
  1.23  house of representatives and the senate shall adopt the rules 
  1.24  during the legislative session in 2001 and implement them 
  1.25  beginning in the legislative session in 2002.
