A bill for an act
relating to a chemical ban; banning a certain chemical used in tear gas; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 116.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding section 624.731, no person shall use, purchase, or manufacture
orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile or any product containing orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile
in this state.

new text begin (b) The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency shall provide guidance on proper disposal
of existing supplies of orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile or of any products containing
orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile possessed by persons in this state.

new text begin (c) For the purposes of this section, "orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile" means a chemical
with the Chemical Abstract Services Registry Number 2698-41-1.
