A bill for an act
relating to veterans affairs; appropriating money for upgrades and enhancements
to the Preston state veterans home building project; requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PRESTON STATE VETERANS HOME BUILDING
PROJECT.

new text begin (a) $4,013,000 in fiscal year 2022 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of veterans affairs to provide the following upgrades and enhancements to
the Preston state veterans home building project:

new text begin (1) a canopy extension for the entry driveway;
new text end

new text begin (2) three-season porch additions;
new text end

new text begin (3) enhanced interior finishes;
new text end

new text begin (4) addition of transfer and maintenance garages;
new text end

new text begin (5) installation of a standing seam roofing system;
new text end

new text begin (6) a trash enclosure;
new text end

new text begin (7) an entry road;
new text end

new text begin (8) increased parking;
new text end

new text begin (9) an outdoor plaza fire pit;
new text end

new text begin (10) a picnic shelter;
new text end

new text begin (11) pergolas; and
new text end

new text begin (12) other interior and exterior upgrades and improvements.

new text begin (b) By February 15, 2023, the commissioner of veterans affairs must report to the
legislative committees with jurisdiction over veterans affairs on the use of the money
appropriated under this section, including information on the status of the upgrades and
enhancements to the Preston state veterans home building project.

new text begin (c) The appropriation under this section is onetime and is available until June 30, 2023.
